FTPSS Tuckshop, Bookshop and Uniform Shop
The Trading Shops Committee is a sub-committee of and reports directly to the FTPSS P&C. The Tuckshop, Bookshop and Uniform Shop are operated almost entirely by volunteer parents – only our Tuckshop Convener is a paid position. All ‘shops’ are run at a profit and annually the Trading Shops contribute approx. $25,000 towards P&C finances – which is not an insignificant sum.

Tuckshop
The school tuckshop is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We use a pre-ordering system – a paperbag with the child’s name and class and the required food is handed in and paid for to the tuckshop before school. The lunches are prepared and packed into class baskets and eskies during the morning. Just prior to the 11am First Break class representatives come and collect the baskets and eskies and take them to classrooms for lunches to be distributed to the children. At 11:20am the children are allowed to come and purchase ‘treats’ (e.g. slush puppies, icecreams, vege chips, etc) from the tuckshop. We are not open for Second Break.
To ‘man’ the tuckshop a volunteer sheet is sent to parents at the beginning of the year and the returned sheets are made into a roster. Most parents volunteer for a specific morning fortnightly or monthly and this system seems to work well. This is all coordinated by Annette Maxfield our convener. We try to maintain and informal relaxed atmosphere so that tuckshop duty is fun and social.

Bookshop
The Bookshop is run by a parent volunteer – currently Karen Mills.
Early in Term 4 a list of requirements for the following year is sent home for parents. This list has, to the best of our ability, all classroom requirements for the year – textbooks, exercise books, stationery, etc. Once the orders are returned to the bookshop they are forwarded onto our supplier, who then collates the packs individually. The packs are then either delivered to home or available for pickup from their Milton premises, depending on instructions by parents. They also have a book covering service. We realize that books can be an expensive part of school life and we endeavour to minimize this cost of time and money to parents. We receive a 15% commission from our suppliers as our profit. The Bookshop also keeps a stock of items for through the year requirements and is open 8:30 – 9:30 am on tuckshop mornings.
