Pastoral Care

At Fig Tree Pocket there are many different programs in place to make sure that our students are well looked after.

School Chaplain

In 2007, Alan our school chaplain began working at our school, two days per week. The chaplain's role involves working with school staff to build relationships with students in order to assist in their learning and development. Alan provides assistance in classes and in special programs and brings a wealth of life experience, work skills and enthusasm to his role.

Human Relationship Education course

Our upper primary students are involved in a human relationship education course failitated by an outside expert.

Peer Mediation

Some students in Year 6 receive training in peer mediation techniques to enable them to act as mediators in the playground. This helps the older students to develop leadership skills and means that our younger students have additional people looking out for them in the playground.

Buddies program

The Buddies program involves our Year 7 students working with a Year 1 buddy and our Year 6 students working with a Year 2 buddy. They do a variety of activities together.

Visiting artists/performers

Each year a number of visiting artist / performers present shows to our students that focus on positive behaviour, self growth, confidence development and how to make and keep friends.
