| There are a variety of cultural programs in place at
Fig Tree Pocket State School. A large part of the program
is built around the music program.
Our music specialist teacher
works with all children each week. The program focuses upon
an appreciation of music and the development of musical
skills and knowledge.
A team of instrumental music instructors provide small
group lessons each week on Brass, Woodwind, Strings and
Percussion instruments for students involved in the Instrumental
Music program. The strings program commences in Year 3.
Lessons for all other instruments commence in Year 5. Inclusion
in the program is by selection. Factors considered include:
musical aptitude, commitment to the program, physical and
behavioural suitability.
The students perform in String ensembles, Junior and Senior
Bands.
The school has junior and senior choirs.
We also have visiting performers and Arts Council each term and an annual Cultural Infusion program.
In Year 7, all students learn some old time and modern dances prior to their graduation.
Visiting Artists in Residence have assisted us to beautify our school. Our most recent project has been the creation of beautiful tiles that now decorate our 4-7 eating area and our tuckshop.
