UNIFORMS
The wearing of school uniforms is valued
by our school community as it assists in building pride
and school tone. Students are encouraged to take pride
in themselves and their appearance.
FORMAL UNIFORM: The school uniform has a blue and white
stripe. It is to be worn for formal occasions (eg. photos
and excursions) as well as for day to day wear.
SPORTS UNIFORM: A white polo shirt with a navy collar
and emblem worn with navy shorts or skirt is the school’s
sports uniform. This uniform can be worn for daily use
(except formal occasions such as school photos or excursions). An additional light blue T shirt was added to the uniform range in
recent years and has become very popular option for both boys
and girls.
A Uniform shop operated by the P&C is open Tuesday 8.30-9.30
and Thursday 2.30-3.30. A
wide variety of stock and school requirements.

SUNSAFE
POLICY
Protecting children from the effects of
the sun is of vital importance. Strategies implemented
as part of our school’s Sunsafe Policy include:
•
Appropriate uniform using material with a high sun protection
factor.
•
Hats: Our school has a policy of No Hat No Play.
•
Sunscreen: A supply of sunscreen is available for use by
students.
•
Education to raise awareness.
SCHOOL HOURS
We value the learning time that we have with your children.
Please ensure that children arrive at school with sufficient
time to prepare for the day’s lessons. Ideally
students should arrive at 8:45am. School commences
at 8:55am and continues until 3pm for all year levels.
First break: 11:00 to 11:45am
Second break: 1:30 to 1:55pm
At the beginning of each break, time is set aside for
all children to sit and eat.

TUCKSHOP
The P&C Association
operates a healthy tuckshop for the convenience of school families
and to raise additional funds to enhance opportunities and
resources for our students. This year has seen the full introduction of EQs, Smart Choices - Healthy Food and Drink Strategy to encouage healthy eating.
A full Tuckshop menu is offered
on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week. Tuckshop convenor
(Mrs Annette Maxfield) is employed to coordinate the tuckshop.
The preparation and serving are done by the convenor and
volunteer parents who are rostered to help. If you are interested
in helping out, this is a rewarding and interesting way
of getting to know more of the school community.
BEHAVIOUR
MANAGEMENT
High standards of behaviour are expected.
Courtesy, consideration, respect and care are to be displayed
at all times. The well-being and safety of all is a key
priority.
Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their
own behaviour and the choices they make. We take a pro-active
approach to developing self-discipline. Emphasis is placed
on a maintaining a positive, supportive environment. Clear expectations
are established, communicated and maintained. Behaviour
issues are handled promptly. Fig Tree Pocket State School has developed a school Code of Behaviour as required by Education Queensland. This document can be downloaded from the link below.

WALKING SCHOOL BUS
A walking school bus is a group of children walking to or from school with trained and approved volunteers from the school community. The 'bus' walks along a set route to or from school, picking up or dropping off children along the way at designated stops, similar to a normal bus route. Safety, fitness and and fun are all important aspects of this program. Please contact the school office to get in touch with our school walking school bus coordinator to register your child in this program.
